Henry's New Room

In preparation for the new baby we have had to move some bedrooms around. Kevin and I moved to the guest room since it is directly at the top of the stairs and was already painted a lovely shade of green, Henry moved to our old room after we recreated it to look like a little boy's room, and the baby will have Henry's old room so we don't have to do anything to it! After much discussion and debate we decided to decorate Henry's room with a "tool theme" complete with Craftsman tool boxes for his dressers. This is definitely Kevin's dream room, but Henry seems pretty happy as well. We also painted our old guest bed, which belonged to my grandmother, my mother, myself and now Henry. Of course we had to alter it slightly so it looks like it belongs in a little boys room. Henry has been in his "big boy bed" for about a week now and so far, so good. The first few nights he did not even get out of bed in the morning, but would call for me to come get him. That was short lived, on about morning three or four I hear our bedroom door open and there's Henry saying "good morning mom!" For the most part he stays in the bed when he is put in there, aside from one difficult nap session, but after some persistency on my part there have not been any further challenges. I actually think he is sleeping better than he had been in his crib. Here are some pictures of our "big boy!"

Kevin bought a bunch of cool metal signs to hang on the wall, these are Henry's favorites.

Trains

Henry has been very into his train set lately. He especially likes me to make "bridges" with small hills and then he laughs as his trains go crashing down. This will generally keep him occupied for quite a while.

So this was the first day I set them all up, then I discovered he only really cares about the bridges, so then I got smart and only built him bridges.

Here's the little conductor!

Sleepy Boys

Henry has always been a great sleeper, he must get it from his father, because I do not require a lot of sleep, nor do I sleep well on general principle, especially these days. Every now and then Henry will end up in our bed for various reason, illness, hot weather, it's rare so we do enjoy the time we have to snuggle with him. He always prefers Kevin over me when it comes to snuggling.

My boys, I wonder where they are gonna put the baby?!

Probably watching a show early in the a.m.

The Big Birthday Party!!

This year we celebrated Henry's second birthday with his cousins Cole and Reed who have birthdays within days of Henry. Auntie and Uncle Bryan were kind enough to host the event and all of our family was able to help celebrate! The boys had a great time and other than a few squabbles about whose birthday party it was, it went extremely well. Kate has some cute pictures on her blog with the boys in their 1,2,3 T-Shirts, so check it out!

Kevin worked extremely hard on this baseball cake. I baked it and he decorated! I think he did a great job, and Henry definitely loved it!

The three birthday boys! Grammy made Cole's soccer ball cake and Reed's beach ball cake, we'll have to come up with another theme for next year!

Egg Coloring and the Park.

This year we colored Easter eggs at Auntie's. The kids had a great time and we faced the challenge of getting the blue dye out of Henry's hands. Normally I would not mind Henry having blue hands for a few days, but he had his two year pictures the next day and the blue hands were not part of my plan. Anyway, we had a great time, thanks Auntie!

After his pictures, Henry and I spent some time at the playground, until it became swarmed with older kids and we decided to head home.

I think Henry only used to blue dye the whole time.

Easter

So, I know that Easter was a month ago and I am very behind on posts, but things have been extremely busy around here. I am actually taking advantage of the fact that both Kevin and Henry are sleeping to catch up on some posts. So, here is Easter. We had a great day and enjoyed the beautiful weather.

The Easter Bunny came to visit!
All dressed up.

Egg hunt and my aunt and uncle's. The competition was not too tough this year considering Henry was the only kid because his cousins were all home sick.

Henry had a hard time functioning throughout the day since we were visiting during nap time, he took advantage of Papa and got a lift.

No, this was not Henry's birthday celebration, but seeing as Easter was right after his birthday, Henry thought that every dessert warrants candles, the family was happy to sing to Henry and let him blow out some candles.
